Flexible Carbon Fiber Sheets

Flexible Carbon Fiber Veneer / Skin Laminates

Flexible carbon fiber sheets are thin carbon composite laminates commonly used as surface veneers or cosmetic skins. They are also referred to as carbon fiber veneer sheets or carbon fiber skin laminates.

These materials are designed for surface finishing and conformal installation, rather than for primary load-bearing structures. Compared with rigid carbon fiber plates, flexible sheets are easier to apply on curved surfaces, wrapped edges, and complex geometries where rigid laminates are difficult to fit.

Technical Note In this context, “flexible” refers to formability during installation. Flexible carbon fiber sheets are designed to conform to surfaces when bonded to a substrate. They are not intended for repeated or dynamic flexing during service life, and should not be treated as elastomeric or rubber-based materials. These are genuine carbon fiber laminates, not vinyl wrap films.

Thickness Range and Selection Guidance

Available Thickness

  • Standard thickness range: 0.20 mm – 0.50 mm
  • Commonly used range: 0.20 mm – 0.30 mm
  • Thickness customization available within this range

Thickness Selection Logic

Thickness RangeTypical Application
0.20 – 0.25 mmTight curves, wrapped edges, complex surface profiles
0.30 – 0.40 mmGentle curves, interior trim panels, decorative housings
0.45 – 0.50 mmMostly flat surfaces requiring higher surface stability
Technical Note As laminate thickness increases, formability decreases and the sheet gradually behaves closer to a rigid carbon fiber plate. Thickness selection should be evaluated together with surface geometry and installation method. For applications requiring structural stiffness or load-bearing capability, rigid carbon fiber sheets should be considered instead.

Standard Sheet Sizes and Custom Dimensions

Regular Stock Sizes

  • 300 × 200 mm
  • 500 × 400 mm
  • 500 × 500 mm
  • 900 × 600 mm
  • 1000 × 600 mm

Custom Size Support

Custom dimensions can be supplied based on project requirements. Sheets may be cut to size or prepared for further processing depending on the application.

Adhesive Backing Options

Self-adhesive backing can be provided upon request. Adhesive backing must be confirmed before order placement.

If no adhesive requirement is specified, sheets will be supplied as standard non-adhesive flexible carbon fiber sheets.

Technical Note Adhesive-backed options should be selected based on substrate material, surface condition, and application environment. Providing this information in advance helps ensure proper material selection and bonding performance.

CNC Cutting and File Requirements

CNC Cutting Capability

CNC cutting services are available for flexible carbon fiber sheets. This is suitable for decorative profiles, trim components, and repeatable production shapes.

Accepted File Formats

  • DXF (preferred)
  • DWG
  • PDF (reference or simple geometries)
Technical Note For precise shapes and consistent edge quality, CNC cutting is recommended. Manual trimming is possible for thinner veneers where high precision is not required. Appropriate dust control and personal protective equipment should be used during cutting or sanding operations.

MOQ and Lead Time

  • MOQ: No minimum order quantity (samples, prototypes, and small batches supported)
  • Lead time: Standard ~7 days; expedited as fast as 3 days subject to availability

RFQ Preparation Checklist

  • Application description (e.g. interior trim, decorative overlay)
  • Surface geometry (flat, curved, wrapped edge)
  • Required thickness or request for recommendation
  • Sheet size or cutting drawing
  • Quantity
  • Adhesive backing requirement (yes / no)
  • CNC cutting requirement (yes / no) and file format

FAQ

No. These sheets are intended as surface veneers or decorative laminates. They are not designed for primary load-bearing applications. If your part requires stiffness or structural performance, rigid carbon fiber plates should be considered.
“Flexible” refers to formability during installation while bonding to a substrate. These laminates are not intended for repeated flexing or dynamic bending during service life.
Most projects use 0.20 mm to 0.30 mm. This range typically balances surface conformity on curves with handling stability during installation.
Yes—thin veneer ranges (e.g., 0.20–0.25 mm) are generally selected for tighter curves and wrapped edges. Final suitability depends on the specific geometry and installation method, so sharing your part details helps confirm selection.
No. Adhesive backing is optional and must be confirmed before ordering. If not specified, sheets are supplied as standard non-adhesive veneers.
Yes, CNC cutting is available for repeatable shapes and consistent edge quality. DXF is preferred; DWG and PDF can also be used depending on geometry.
Standard lead time is approximately 7 days. Expedited orders may ship within 3 days subject to material availability.
